Question '90 C2 Seat Removal Issues

Ok, here's one for ya. I am replacing my seats in my 1990 C2, and got the passenger one out in 5 mins flat. Now the drivers side seat is all the way to the back and one spline doesn't listen to the motor for rear-to-front movement. I've looked at the motor and it's turning the clutch to the spline, but the spline no turn!!! Seat no move. Cant get to rear bolts to remove without getting seat to move to front. Am I going to have to get out the chainsaw, or is someone going to tell me there is a way to get this thing to move??? HEEEELLLLPPPPP !!!! Thxs.

Frustrated,

Sorry....

I don't have a solution, but sympathy,
My dad has had his car in for surgery at least 3 times for the same issue....
Wish I knew the quick fix too

My usual response: do a search on Rennlist's 964 board.

Whooohooo!!!!! I got it!!

While negotiations were heated and at times counter-productive, cooler heads prevailed. I took the day off from the struggle, and came back at the problem with a fresh perspective.....

After removing the plastic service panel under the front of the seat(2 screws), I was able to manipulate the splines while pressing the switch to move the seat forward. After about a minute or so, it seems I struck the right combination of alignment (for the spline actuator) and power(switched motor) that almost magically rescued the seat from a certain death by blow torch. 10 mins later I had removed the balance of 4 bolts holding the rear of the seat in it's channels, and faster than you can say"time to go for a ride in my new seats", I had the last seat out and was well on my way to finishing the job.

Sweet!!!

Did you install manual rails for the new seats?

What seats are you going to be replacing them with?

Thanks,
Rob
