Air cooled flow direction

Sorry in advance for the stupid question, but could you tell me the direction of air movement created by the fan - does it blow cold air in or blow hot air out?

The large magnesium fan blows outside air into the shroud and over the cylinders. It is vented out the bottom hence the term air cooled. In theory it is only part true the majority of the cooling is done by the oiling system. The design has its flaws and is the reason why the early race cars moved the fan to the top aka flat fan engines. This gives more even distribution of air over the engine.
