964 A/C Head Scratcher

I have an '89 964 C4, had the A/C "suitcase" rebuilt, new evap, expansion valve, new blowers, new foam gaskets, new o-rings--all of it. I even had the CCU rebuilt at Specialized ECU.
The AC doesn't blow as cold as it did before the evaporator was replaced (it finally rotted out) , its merely cool, not cold. I have the proper amount of refrigerant and oil, replaced the drier and the entire system was flushed. It holds vacuum excellently.

When ambient temp is in low 90's I get mid 50s at center air vent at speed 3 or 4. At mid 80's ambient, I got to 46-47 with infrared thermometer pointed as far back as possible into the vent. I have a knock off bosch hammer and everything reads right, all servos and flaps are operating properly, AC clutch works, Condensor and oil cooler fans work at both speeds. I even blocked off the heater hoses to see if it was "leaking" in hot air.

I am perplexed, I got high 30's low, 40's prior to the rebuild.

Anyone have any ideas, maybe I am missing something simple

I think you would have better luck at a helpful response over at Rennlist.

Have you given them a call, surely they'll fully help your troubleshooting effort,
after you had a costly "rebuilt" done by them?

I’m sorry to inform you if you were getting high 30 degrees and low 40 temps prior to the rebuild that was about the equipment maximum, it’s not going to throw ice cubes like some Japanese cars ..

Since you were seeing high 30s/low 40s before the rebuild, and now you’re stuck in the mid-40s to mid-50s, I’d focus on what changed during the evaporator replacement.
