Emergency Release Cable
I have a 1990 C4 that does not have the emergency release cable for the trunk and engine lid.
I don’t know what year it became standard but I want to retrofit the cables in my car. Has anyone done this? The part number is the same for both the trunk and engine lid 964.512.521.00 It seems pretty straightforward but I was wondering if anyone had some tips. Thanks, Brad |

You do have it and it has always been standard. Remove the passenger side headlight and you will see it taped to the fender. Remove the drivers side tail light and the cable for the engine lid is there. Your part number is off. 996 511 521 00 is the front cable, and 996 512 521 00 is the rear. Jeff

I do not have them.
Its not in my car and those are not the numbers for a 964. They look like 996 part numbers. Anyway, I will be making my own cables and will try to install them this weekend. I will post my results.

They are 996 part numbers. You said you have a 1990 which is a 996, but it looks like you have a 964.

I am so sorry and feel very stupid, and I did in fact pick up new glasses today. When my eyes saw 1990 my brain said 2000.
I am use to the 996 and 986 Boards, and the 986 started in 1997. Nothing I said makes any sense for a 964. Sorry, Jeff, who is on Porsche overload and lost 10 years. |
