Who says you can't work on these cars? As mentioned in other thread, I DIY'ed first engine oil and tranny fluid change yesterday. Tranny fluid is a total breeze, as it was with my Carrera. I recommend this job for anyone as soon as they bring their new purchase home. You never know what the PO really did, or what he paid for vs. what he got. $32 for four qts. of Mobil 1 gear oil and under 1 hr. - well worth it.
![]() Next was oil change. Not real difficult, but a lot more than it really needs to be. Why did they put that Pabst-pounder-looking oil filter behind the rocker trim? I don't think a cool collar is gonna be much help there. The little pony-beer size filter is a no problem to get to once you remove that ducting. But it gets a little messy. I switched from Castrol Syntec to Mobil 1. Old oil looked just horrible. And below you see David Riley and Charlie (kstylianos) checking to see if I have one DE's worth of front brakes left. ![]() These two jobs were obviously much easier with a lift, but not all tough anyway. Saved a bunch of money and I know it was done right!
