What do you mean "exhaust port"? Are you talking about where the manifold/heat exchanger bolts up to the engine? I don't see how a leak would start there or how a valve adjustment would create a leak here. It's possible for valve guides to wear and let oil through, but it would not leak out, it might just accumulate in the exhaust and cause some blue smoke when the car is running.
There's several things near #6 that could leak oil. There's the valve covers that you removed/replaced when adjusting the valves. There's the oil line into the engine that has a partial softline portion. There's the whole power steering pump and cam drive belt area. Finally, there's a oil pressure sender at the top of the engine, on the 4-6 bank, towards the firewall, that can leak and oil could run down. If this is a new leak that didn't appear until your valve adjustment, then I'm thinking it is valve cover related. Did you replace the gaskets? Did you make sure the gasket mating surface on the engine was oil-free when reinstalling? Did you make sure the gaskets stayed in their grooves when you installed the covers? Did you tighten the nuts sufficiently on the valve covers? Last edited by Vandit; 02-10-2012 at 01:26 PM.. |

Dear Vandit
The leak is comming from the inside around the valve seal (spark plug looks good and dry)? What trigger me to look there was smoke only from #6 after doing reseal of the engine. It was most likely there before the reseal of the engine. I do think it that much to worry about but I have the engine bay access now Andrew Last edited by adeak1; 02-10-2012 at 05:43 PM.. |
