964 purchase with trade-in 911 3.2 cab

Hi guys,

I would like to ask for your opinion.

I am currently looking into buying a very nice looking 05-92 964, complete with Raf leather interior, Airco, etc.. km is 96.000. The car comes complete with service history and receipts covering the last 5 years or so. The dealer who is selling the car wants to trade in my Carrera 3.2 cab (87, with 171.000km's service documents available). They want to have an additional €12.500 on top.

Can anybody give me advise if this is reasonable?

I read a lot of stories that in the market the Carrera 3.2 is priced on same level as early C2 models. This would make the price that I have to pay on top of my car a little high!

That's ridiculous. Sell your Carrera on your own and you should be able to get a lot more for it. Then drive a hard bargain with cash in hand when you get a 964 - unless you're just looking for an easy deal.

Hi there guys,

Just wanted to let you know how the story ended.

I went back to the dealer (extremely nice people by the way) to talk about the price, then asked what the price would be for a 993. Turned out that they had a very nice example, that was reasonable priced, although the color is Amaranth (polite way of saying purple!!). Anyway the color made me hesitating, but they offered me to take the car back home for a test spin and to get approuval from the home front.... Of course after driving the car for 2 days, noway I wanted to give it back, no matter what the color was/is (clever sales trick). So I bought it.
So Purple Haze it is!
