OEM Audio Amp C2 Cab????

I am replacing my outdated 1992 C2 Cab Stuttgart Blaupunkt Cassette unit with a newer Kenwood MP3 model. In doing so, I knoticed that there are three connectors: One for power (duh), one for speakers (which was not connected), and a third marked "preamp", which was connected. I never believed that there is a audio amp in the car because it sounded so bad, but I would like to know if there might be one? I have looked online for this and there is a option code marked 494 implying that there might be one somewhere (but where???) in the car. Any ideas?

zcab, The factory location for the amp is under the passenger seat. Just move your seat all the way forward and it should be visible. It's not very powerful and most people replace them when upgrading. Regards, Roy

Thanks. I found the model number online last night and the specs. It is a Blaupunkt BQB-80.
Maximum power output
4 x 20 Watts into 4 ohms

Nominal power output
4 x 18 Watts RMS into 4 ohms

Frequency response
-1.5dB from 30 Hz - 16,000 Hz

Distortion
<0.1% typical @ 4W / 1,000 Hz

Channel Separation
>50 dB

Signal to Noise Ratio
<1mV

Amplification
8.5 dB, (47 ohms input) @ f=1,000 Hz

Speaker impedance
4 ohm

Power supply voltage
DC 12V (11-14V), negative ground

Power Consumption
Idle = 500mA
6.00A for 10W / channel

It was dark last night so I couldn't find it in the car. Any recommendations as to a good aftermarket solution?

Found it. Measures 4"x7"x2". Teeny-Tiny. Any suggestions for aftermarket that might fit in the same area?
