Battery drained and I cannot open trunk on my 1999 996 C2

Battery drained over winter and I cannot open my hood when the battery is drained...p.97 in owener's manual says "Note: When the battery is discharged, the levers can't be unlocked. Please contact your authorized Porsche dealer"...what would the dealer be able to do to open the trunk so i can manuaklly charge my battery? Is there some kind of hidden realese? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

i do not think the '99 996 has a hidden release.
you could use one of those trickle chargers that charge the battery through the cigarette lighter. once the battery has enough charge, you could pop the trunk to hook a real charger to the battery.

here is a rennlist thread on the same dilemma.

good luck,
max

There is a retractable post in the drivers side foodwell that has a battery symbol for that purpose. Pull it out. You can hook up a jumper cable (+) there and the negative to the door catch.
