Looking for a 996 engine/parts car?

A friend of mine in San Diego has a wrecked red/tan 2000 996 for sale. He has some people interested already, but I thought I'd post this here in case someone wants to build a racecar, needs a parts car, or is looking for a cheap salvaged-title rebuilder. The price is $14,000 for the entire car. No idea if he'll part it out.

I was interested so I went over. Here are three photos:







It looks like the front went under the rear of a semi -- but the rear of the car -- especially the engine and 6-speed transmission is undamaged.

I ran a Carfax on the VIN (WP0AA2996YS620091) and it shows one owner and nothing significant past an 8/02 emissions test in Van Nuys, CA. Mileage then was 5,100.

I was told, sometime after that, the car was in an accident and then sat in storage for quite a while. Many months later, the orphaned car was sold, as-is, by the lender/repo company. The tags on the license plate are still dated 2002. Estimates are that the car has 12,500 miles on it -- give or take a few thousand.
