Case of the missing jack socket.

Hi fellows,
I continue on the 90 C2.
Still engaged in the underside cleaning, today I started with the front end. As I set out to put the front end also up on jack stands, I was astounded to find that the left-side front jack socket is gone! Only the holes through the body sheet metal serve as evidence that it ever was there. No other sign of damage in the area…..just a missing jack pad. I find this most interesting, but perhaps others may have an idea of what may have happened.
Meanwhile I have a new socket on order and will begin thinking of how to fit it. Hate upside down welding.

Mine were removed on a service because they got squashed by my trolley jack. Now I use the jack with the lifting cap upside down on the flat body with a larger lump of flat rubber as a cushion.

Thanks,
I have now learned that the pads are NLA from Porsche. I have one taken from a wreck, and will replace when next I service the Porsche. My Son has offered the probable cause of the missing jack pad though; they are often pulled off by tow truck operators as they place their hooks in them to pull the car up onto a flatbed. The pads were never intended for force from that direction and pull off easily.
