Rear Spoiler Warning Light

While driving, the Central Warning Light, Along with the Rear Spoiler Warning light comes on whenever I go over 50mph, and doesen't turn off until I stop. I know the wing is going up, because i can hear it go down after i stop.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

Check the "up" microswitch. Make sure that when it is closed, there is continuity through the two wires.

Also, you could remove the control module from under the passengers side dash, remove the cover, and clean the contact points of the tw0 relays with electrical contact cleaner. This fix is more for tails that don't raise.

Isn't a 1998 model a 993?? ( even on your side of the pond )
IIRC, a 996 doesn't have a seperate control module for the spoiler, but is controlled by one of the main computers in the car.
If it is a 993 you have, the spoiler module is located up under the dash near the glove box. (about 2" x 3" x 1" thick )

The control for a 993 is in the same place as the 964, the passenger footwell (about the middle and slightly below the glove box behind the carpet). It a small rectangular module (maybe 1.5x1.5x2.5 inches).
