Need Help with more Tiptronic Question

A picture is worth 1000 words or more.

Anyone can id the drain plug on upper right of photo (hope it posts). Does it contain ATF or hypoid gear oil? I can't seem to find the fill plug for what appears to be the differential of the tiptronic box.

What is shown is the Tiptronic trans with the belly pan removed to change the screen inside (held by 3 torx #27 screws). I am in the process of refilling with ATF and wondered if the heavily finned part of the drivetrain th the right and rear of the pan needs to be serviced as well. The Workshop manual is sadly lacking in info for this part of the tranny. I assume if there is ATF inside this Allen head plug then I would be filling this portion of the tranny when I top up through the quickfill tube used to fill the pan.

Actually, I believe that is the drain plug for the differential and yiu use should use diff oil... There should be a matching plug up on the side of tranny case where you add the diff oil. Make sure the upper add plug can be opened before you drain the diff oil out.

Yup,
Krause is correct..........but didn't we already go over this issue Tom? I am getting old and may have dreamed it, but I believe this was a question in your previous submissions on the tip transmission.

James,
No you didn't dream it. I'm just being ultra careful and planning ahead. I didn't want to open the drain plug to find out what's inside before doing the crucial first step of finding and opening the fill plug. I was able to see the filler plug after removing the right side heater duct. It's all done and written up as a technical article for submission to Pelican with full photos. Will send in next few days. I could email you the process (details) if you'll send me your email.
