1998 C2S battery?
Hey guys, I'm a Porsche neophyte. I've owned a 1998 C2s for about 2 years, driving sparingly. Car has been in storage all winter, now battery is dead. Stupid question, but where is the stinkin battery? Can I charge it? Help please!

It's under the carpet in the front trunk. Sure, charge it like a normal battery.

If you dopn't drive your car for more than 2 weeks or so at a time, it's a good idea to get a trickle charger (aka battery maintainer) to keep it charged. It will cost about $40 at Sears or any auto parts store. It's bad for your battery to drain it completely multiple times. Some batteries, like Optima red tops, will die fairly quickly if you drain them multiple times (ask me how I know).

Whats the deal with OEM Porsche batteries vs. other manuf's? I was quoted about $400 for a 993 battery by the dealer.....is this really necessary? what else should I consider if not cheaper, better bang for buck?

The right battery size is BCA 48-650 (size 48, 650 cca). got one at Strauss auto store in NJ for $65.00 or PEP Boys for $85
