Tiptronic 4 speed shifting question

Greetings all!

I have a general question pertaining to the Tiptronic shifting habits of a 1997 Carrera S (mfg 2/97) [ customer is not happy]

(automatic shift mode,no apparent problems, car clear of faults)

1. In the manual mode of operation there is a distinct balk or hesitation from 2nd to 3rd under a light throttle load, regardless of using steering wheel toggles or shifter toggle used for up shifts.

2. As I understand for the auto mode there are maps within the Tiptronic computer for the trans/engine adaptation to drivers particualr habits, is there "any" type of learned/computer selected maps that the manual mode is using for upshifts.

3. Has there been any software fix that has been attempted/ worked out or is this another non intrest item as
"thats just the way it is" as owner has been told by a "FEW" dealers.

4. ANY and ALL replys, comments appreciated especially if on the Tiptronic computer/software side of this possible "glitch"

Thanks Steve

Welcome to the forum.

There is no adaptive map for manual mode. There is, however, a safety mechanism that will not allow the driver to over-rev the engine. Meaning that dispite being in manual mode, the computer will take control if it feels that you are driving outside of the "safe" parameters.

Automatic mode is adaptable.

First thing I would do is change the tranny fluid\filter. The transmissions are pretty tough, but can be sensitive to fluid contamination\low pressure.
