RUF R turbo+Empty Autobahn,

I ahve noticed that there is a lot of talk on the pelican forums regarding the older rufs, specifically the Yellowbird. Fair enough this car is extraordinary. But i think that this picture shows that the newer cars can hold their own too. I find the R tubo much more stable and easy to drive at these speeds, wind noise is not great, the car is planted and keeping to one lane is easy.

Heres the pic:

Also that night we hit vmax in the car and managed a 207,3mph(we have the shorter gears and the car was bouncing off the limiter, 7100rpm)

Very impressive. It must have been comforting to see the oil and temp gauges are at their factory levels - assuming you had the guts to look down at >200mph!

Thanks for sharing that. Here in Amerika with our cash starved law enforcement we will never see this legally. Sigh.

I think a lot of the performance advantages of the newer Ruf cars is in the area of refinement and high speed stability/comfort. I have a friend with a very nice Turbo R and it feels like a big, friendly, very potent...animal. Over here the advantages of the cars is almost lost as we simply cannot get away with driving at any real speeds for extended periods like you can there.

The original CTR, I am told is more of a race car. Not for the average person and even most of those who desire one do not understand what a raw animal they are and how unsuitable they are for regular driving.

I have schemed for decades on how to legally have one in California but it always ends up with a car that is not really legal or is altered to the point that it is not a CTR any longer.

So, GB may have their problems and speed cameras all over but at least they permid you to own these machines.

Again, thanks.

Maybe you could register the ctr in another state? A lot of guys do that?

Yes the ctr is a real racer, very fast, and difficult to control!

all the best
