Question '91 964 Turbo ???

Question:

My friend installed a Full GHL exhaust system

It idles and drives fine for 10 minutes and once car gets to operation temp. it starts loosing boost, and car does not want to idle and eventually dies.

Has anyone have installed one of this exahust system on there turbo 964?

How much of the exhaust is it?

Was it a full exhaust? If so, and you had the wastegate and everything out, could it be stuck open/closed/loose?

My guess is that some turbo-hardware-item is not hooked back up properly.

Hey JTKKZ, did you find out what was going wrong? I have an aftermarket exhaust on my '86 930 that looks almost identical to the pic above. Occassionally I lose boost or get none at all, but I I've traced this to the wastegate...

My friend fount the O-ring gasket where the intercooler is mounted on (throttle body) is cracked.

He will be replacing it as soon as the part comes in.

Hopefully this solves the problem

That is a common area of leakage Several buddies have found that to be the cause of their problems as well

Well that solved that problem, I actualy got a chance to drive it today and that's fast.

I drove it with the stock exhuast as well and what a big difference that made.
