Question G50 6-speed stuck in neutral

My friend's gearbox is stuck in neutral and he is unable to select any gear. This happened after some very slow maneuvering in his garage. We think it could be the internal mechanism that ensures only one gear is selected at a time. No fluid is leaking and the car performed perfectly the day before. The gearbox has only 9000km. from new and the car has been driven carefully. Anyone know if this is a "known" fault with these gearboxes? Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Paulo

Gear Box

Lets make sure the shifter is actually connected to the transmission.
1. One simple thing to check is the universal coupler between the shifter and the transmission shifting shaft tube at the front of the trans.
2.Also remove and check the bottom of the shifter itself to make sure the shifting shaft tube is attached to the shifter.

Possibly the shift spindle, also called reversing lever rod. This is a known issue with 993 transmissions. The replacement part is MUCH stronger than the original, which should be upgraded at the first opportunity. I can fax the info page --
