Trick Tach
Greetings,
I've got a 90 C2 and was wondering how to adjust my tach so that it looks 'trick' or 'race' or what have you. Growing up my buddy had a 77 911s and you could simply turn the tach like a dial if you wished. Just wondering if there was a simply way to turn it. I do not want to break it so that it spins freely. I was also wondering from those of you who have cut out the 2nd muffler. What does this typically cost and how loud is it. Seems like a simple way to create a bit more sound without spending big $$ on an exhaust system that may end up with a HP loss. Thanks, |

You can do the same thing with your 964. The tach (all gauges) are held in place with a rubber ring around it. You simply need to pry the tach out of it's hole, and then rotate it to whatever makes it look racy (to you). Some people do the speedo as well, especially with aftermarket steering wheels.
The secondary muffler is actually a pretty good unit. I would go after the primary muffler (the one along the back). You can do a couple of things. The replacement pipe for the primary muffler is a couple of hundred dollars. It weighs less and as it is a straight pipe will reduce the back pressure slightly and make a little more sound. Or if you know someone with welding skills you can open up your stock muffler and then gut the inside. That looks more stock and the fit is certainly better than aftermarket...... |
