Have you replaced your original clutch yet??

My car has 69k on it. The clutch is fine. When did you change your original clutch plate out?? Just curious when I need to have the $500 or so set aside for that little job (which I will do myself of course). :D

Come on guys you can't all still be driving around with the original clutch?????

65K on my '95. And it will be more like $1000 in parts when you decide to replace the dual mass flywheel with the lightweight aluminum flywheel kit (new disc/PP/fork/TOB/guide tube). The dualmass will be failing or about to fail by then. It's not too bad a job - just remember to pop a new rear main seal in there too!

Good luck
Colin

 What is the advantage of getting rid of the dual mass flywheel???

Getting rid of the DMF has some HUGE advantages. For one, the lightweight flywheel is much cheaper. The DMF is almost 30 lbs. heavier than the LWF, so you get MUCH better throttle response with a LWF. Adn DMF's are just a poor design. They WILL fail. On 993's and 964's you can remove the transmission without removing the engine. But if you remove the engine, you will be paying another $300 for an alignment afterwards. Clutch jobs on these cars ain't cheap if you pay a pro for it.
