Found rear sway bar suggestions...anyone care to trade?
Due to these comments both in Adrian's book and Rennlist threads I am looking to trade my C4 18mm rear sway for a C2 21mm (preferred) or C2 22mm rear sway bar.
On Rennlist forums: (Page 1 - 5th post in thread) LINK Quote: "I always recommend with a strut brace to also replace the rear sway bar with a more suitable unit. On a C4 you remove the 18 mm and replace it with a 21 or 22 mm. With a C2 you remove the 21 or 22 mm and replace it with a 18 or 19 mm. If you have a tip you leave the sway bar installed because it is a 19 mm. Add a good set of tyres and then see the difference." On Rennlist forums #2: (Page 1 - 3rd and 7th Post in thread) LINK Quote: "C4 people who do not go racing (most) fit 21 or 22mm fixed rear sway bars to their 964s to reduce understeer. An old and proven solution. There is no justification for fitting an adjustable sway bar on a C4 for normal road use. Another word for a sway bar is a stabiliser bar or anti-roll bar. Quote 2: "The 21mm is fitted to the 1990 Carrera 2 only. The 22mm is fitted to a number of 964 verions. I am pretty sure they are in the book. One of the UK based parting out places would be a good place to start. I have a set of RS America sway bars in my basement but the overall cost including shipping would be high." In his book: Chapter 11 - Page 535 -What is the best way to start a suspension upgrade program? Quote from Adrian's book: If wanting improved handling, start with the rear. Change the rear sway bar. On a Carrera 4 install a larger diameter one. 21mm is best. These are found on 1990 model year only Carrera 2. If a C2 is suffering from oversteer install a smaller sway bar. 18mm or 19mm. The Carrera 4 comes with 18 mm as standard and the Tiptronic with 19 mm as standard. Carrera 2 and 4 owners can swap. Any C2 owners care to trade for my C4 rear sway bar??? Looks like the 21mm would be best, but not limited to, for C4 owners. 22mm found in other C2 models. Preferably in Maryland. -Puma
