cab top ground wire to brake

i had a problem with the top not going activating last weekend, and noticed the brake emerg brake light not working, then in and iff while driving. i have taken off the console cover, and noticed the copper clip at the end of the ground wire (i think ground, it's black) loose. when i touch it to metal behind the plastic brake handle, the light comes on, and the top works properly.

where does that copper clip attach ? it looks like it slides into a space and licks in because it is U-shaped, with a curl at the end.
it's about 5/8 inch wide.

also, my shift knob is floppin : >(
i think the shift coupler is loose. do i access that coupler from a plate between the back seats ? like older 911's ?
