Porsche Crest 993 C2s/c4s

Hi,

I'm in the market for a 993 C2S or C4S and have noticed that here in the UK there are a lot of Vesuvius coloured cars for sale. Can someone post a good picture of any car in this colour? The images I've seen so far have been poor quality.

Also can anyone offer any buying advice specific to these models.

Many thanks,
Chris

Chris,

I am no expert, in fact I may be looking for a 993 myself, but here is my take:

In US cars the 96+ 993 had 12 more HP due to the Variram intake. There have been some very limited reports of wiring problems with the 95. The 95s are easier to put an aftermarket chip in. I have also read that some 95s should not run 18-inch wheels. I don't really have a good source for the wheel thing. For more information check out this great web site:

I hope this helps and is accurate!

Bud Gordon

BTW

Also I notice that there is not nearly as much BBS action on the 993. This worries me a little since I have received so much help with my SC from these boards.

There's a Pelican member (lowyder993 - I think) who has a 993 Carrera 2S in Vesuvius. Try searching by his username, he's got a website link in his profile.

Ah ha, I have a purple Porsche 993 S2. His name is Peter the Purple People Eater. He's Vesuvius by Porsche standards and quite possibly one of the coolest cars I've ever owned. Not too many Porsches exist in New Zealand so he turns some heads :-)

Dont make the mistake of falling for the 'get the Varioram' ruse.
whichever 993 you buy you need to get it re-mapped on the dyno
Its the best upgrade you can get for your car.

Id recommend Ninemeister and not being a commercial post Id qualify that by saying a Remapped Non Vario car can turn out as much as 305bhp whislt a remapped Vario will normally only see about 3bhp more.

The £500 you spend on the remap is worth much more than the premuim you might pay to find a Vario over a Non Vario.

whats the difference with a vario, a more complicated intake system with a tuneable length vaccum operated (or often not) thing.

Having said that - i dont know if the S are all varios.

Just thought I would add my 2p so you dont need to avoid that immaculate Non Vario car if you find it.
