Temperature Gauge

My temperature gauge only starts working after the car is warmed up. It stays at the bottom for several minutes and all of a suden jumps to the correct temperature reading, as if its stuck and seddenly releases it self. And only if the car is started cold.

any thoughts,

Tks

I'd suspect a bad electrical connection first, probably at the sensor in the engine bay. Contacts heat up, expand, make contact.

I suspect it might be in the gauge, cause some times I hit the glass and the needle goes up. I already took the gauge off, but its a various pins connector. So I have no Idea if I have to change the connector or the gauge, or something inside the gauge.
