muffler type for 95 993

My forum research seems to indicate that a 1995 993 C2 would use the Bischoff mufflers. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks,
Jim S.

My 95 C2 cab has the Bischoff but some have the Gillet. The name is stamped on the muffler body.

Sadly the car has a muffler bypass pipe installed in place of the original system. The PO checked with the installer and the mufflers are in a scrap yard (or sold on ebay). The car sounds good for my tastes but it is a little too strong for the neighborhood and more importantly, the spousal unit.

Is there any other way of determining the OEM of the mufflers on this 993?
Thanks,
Jim S.

Jim, all of the 993 mufflers, Gillet and Bischoff, are interchangable throught the 993 model range.
It is the shape of the flange between the heat exchangers and catlytic converter that differs between the two suppliers.
The exhaust tips (offset) also vary between the wide bodies, Twin Turbo, and standard Carrera.
If you want a little more 'sound' than stock- and i know you do - you might want to get a set of RSR mufflers. Unfortunetly, you have to supply a set of cores as part of the deal http://p-car.com/exhaust/
I have the RSRs and the drilled motorsound airbox lid which combine to make a very nice sound once you are on the throttle, but are far from obnoxious when at idle or low throttle input.
Good luck,
max

Max is right, mufflers themselves interchange, but the cat and heat exchanger are dependant on vendor, Gillet or Bischoff.

How ya doing Max? Long time no talk..
