'91 vs '92 964
Hi Guys and Gals,
My Porsche mechanic advises me to buy a '92 or later 964 versus a '91 or earlier. Anyone know why? |

Hi,
The later models corrected (from factory) some issues with the heads that in some cases leaked oil. To be fair most of them were repaired during warranty. And some other minor upgrades but when the car is 15+ years you should be more concerned about the service history than if the little thingy is version .2 instead of .1 Your mechanic is giving you some good advise but it's just that.. My 2 cents If you're new I suggest you buy the book: Porsche 964 from Adrian Streather Good luck in your search!

91 vs 92
91 has old flag style mirrors, 92 has aero style.
91 has R12 a/c. 92 has R134 91 has D90 wheels, 92 has cup 1's. rest i believe is the same. cheers, haas (who loves his 91...) |

also, 90 was the problem with oil leaks and had the last aluminum rather than plastic intake manifold like all the current cars.

964
I tried to find a nice 91 or later 964 with lower miles, they are very hard to find. I ended up with a low mile 911.
