I just drilled my 993's airbox, and love the way it sounds at WOT.

I took my air box off and went for a ride, didnīt notice any difference in the sound. Are the wholes that make a different sound?

At 4500+ RPM under wide open throttle, you should hear some lovely intake sounds. However, I have found that the larger the engine, the more noise you get. My current 3.6 is substantially louder than my 3.2 was with the same modification.

You took the whole air box off, or just the cover? A lot of the noise comes from the air going through the filter. Did you leave the filter in place (I hope so!). It will also get much louder the further down you press the loud pedal. How far did you press it? If you stay below 4,000 RPM or so, you won't notice much difference.

I took just the cover and whent to 6k. Maybe the air passing through the holes makes the difference

I just drilled mine same as pic, and it really sounds sweet! I would recommend this to anyone thinking about it.
