Front tire size 225/45/17?

Hi, I am new to the boards with my first tech question.

I have a 1991 c4 cab and I need new tires. I really like the new Falken Azenis RT-615's and have found them reasonably priced. The question I have has to do with overall diameter. Is it the goal to match the exact diameter of the tire front to rear? If so, the exact match would be 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 to the rear - both are exactly 25.0 inch diameter. I did try a search on this but came up with nothing.

Is anyone running this setup?

Thanks in advance.

doubleurx,

I'm running those exact sizes on my C2. I have them mounted on Cup I's and have minimal rubbage at full turn in the front. The rears clear with no problems and could use a spacer to bring them out a few mm.

Is that on the stock suspension? I have bilsteins and eibachs that lowered the car around 1.25"

Thanks. I guess my main concern has to do with the differentials. I am assuming that since the car originally came with 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 in the rear, I should be OK as they are also the identical in diameter. I've had one place tell me no, but they could not come up with a reason why.

I had the 16" D90 wheels prior to switching to the Cup I's. I didn't notice any difference. As long as they have similar overall diameters, you should be fine. However, that is strictly my opinion.

Regards,

Regards,
I agree with you as well so I am pretty confident that I will purchase these tires for both my cars. The price is amazing;

225/45/17 - $112
255/40/17 - $131

Falken RT-615.

Forgot to ask, do you use spacers?
