Battery question...
I've been reading on Rennlist and Pelican that many P-car owners recommend the Optima brand dry-cell battery for use in our Porsches....especially if it's and older car like mine. I have no battery or starting issues, but the battery I have is looking kinda long in the tooth, and I'd like to replace it before it does start giving me grief.
I was at Wal-Mart and Costco on Saturday, and both carry the Optima brand. Wal-Mart sells the "Red-Top" and Costco sells the "Red-Top" and "Yellow Top". My question is.....the Yellow Top is an extra $40 bucks....does anyone use this battery, or is it a bit of over-kill? I do want the best battery money can buy....but I'm just wondering if the Red Top is best suited for our cars. Thanks! ![]()

The Yellow top is a deep-discharge (or Marine) battery. Not required unless you have a huge audio system.
But, if you want the best battery, go Odyssey. About the same price and lighter. Info on the battery (mainly the hold down) on this thread

I'm also looking into the Optima, but wondered if there is a direct bolt-in option for a 90 964.
Any suggestions? |
