Insurance and Track Activity
Quick question - it seems to me the Porsche owners are, in general, pretty active in track activities - closed circuit hot lapping, driving schools, slaloms, etc - sounds like a blast and I can't wait!!!
![]() But - my question is - does the insurance policy go on the shelf when the car hits the track?? Isn't it like... a "prohibited" activity or something? How do you all deal with the issue of insurance for this? Is it "cross the fingers and hope"? |

It used to be that track organizers would say it wasn't a racing event, but a "school" event. I think insurance companies are onto it and at least my policy excludes any event where you're on track, "school" or otherwise...I would check your insurance policy for the terms of the coverage
Good luck!

Stan,
Just out of curiosity, who is your insurance company if you don't mind me asking? I am with Allstate and I can't find the exclusion in the policy. Hope that means I am okay when I attend a training session in June. I rather not ask my agent for obvious reasons.

With Farmers, I was covered as long as it wasn't racing. Ask your agent, that's what you pay him/her for.
I race now, so the car is "self insured".

I know my policy excludes "track" events. But there are several companies that write weekend coverage for tracking your p-car. Look in the back od Panorama or maybe Excellence and there should be some ads there.

My buddy flipped his 996 and it was total at the track in Ga. His insurance paid his lease off even with his racing seats and cage in the car he said they paid the car off and he even was able to pull all his upgrades off the car.
