Cool Ease belt changing on 993

Dear Tech BBS readers,
Changed my alternator belt on my 1996 993.
It was impossible to get to the jamb nut to release the A/C compressor belt tensioning bolt. So I forced the bolt and the bolt came out very reluctantly. When I put the tensioning bolt back in I put 5 or 6 SAE flat washers under the tensioning bolt hold down nut so I can get to the nut in the future with a box end wrench. It is very important to use multiple SAE style washers for this fix instead of metric washers or even worse a custom made precision metric stand off. By doing you suggested fix you can suitably impress your local Porsche dealers mechanic or elicit enjoyable responces from those with a Porsche fetish. Kind’a like the response I get when I flash the snow tires I have on my 86’ Carrera at a Porsche fest!
