carrera 2 converible
I have a 1990 Carrera 2 convertible and am having problems with the front locks on the top. Does anyone have the procedures for adjusting these? I have the workshop manuals, but convertibles are barely mentioned.

They rarely (if ever) require adjustment. What is the exact problem with the roof?

My cab top messed up too.
![]() The top has a logic contol box which controls the 2 up/down motors, 2 lock motors for the lock up to the windshield 2 or 3 end switchs for the up/down motors, and 2end switches for the top lock up. From other cab owners, a weak link is the control box which has a circuit board cold soldered inside its VDO case. The cold soldered joints can be resoldered, if I recall at the tie in to the input/output wiring terminals. This solved many problems which I read about on this or another forum. My problem was solved simply by going through each end contact and making sure there is continuity, or good contact and not a bad end switch. Perhaps your problem could just be a loose end switch. My up down motors were also loose internally and needed to be tightened up internally. I got a chuckle when I opened the housing and saw the BMW logo on the part. My documentation from Porsche says any problem with the arcanaries of top operation require dealer technician time. I just swap till I drop with a little help from my friends on line. |
