993 Tachometer OBC Display Faulty

Hi All.

I have a '95 993 C4 Tip with the OBC display in the Tacho.

Recently the display has gone very dim and I was wondering whether it is lit seperately - i.e. I can just change a bulb....

OR.... Do I need a new OBC display and how easy is it to fit....

OR..... Is it time for a complete Tacho unit?!...

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Alex

The back-light burned out. You can send it in to north hollywood speedometer and get it repaired.

Thanks AFJ. I'm in the UK unfortunately so it's probably not an option. Due know if it's a case of just replacing the bulb or is it a little more complicated than that?

Many thanks, Alex.

It is replacing the bulb. Unfortunately, you need to pry open the tachometer to do it. You can remove the bezel yourself if you care careful. Pry on the back side of the bezel gently. You should be able to slide the rear portion of the tachometer case off then.

If you do not want to venture down this path. Check Porsche 911 world - they may have an advertisement for VDO instrument repair.
