'90 vs. '92 intake w/throttle position sensor

I'm working on installing a '92 engine into my '90 C4 and the newer engine has the plastic intake setup with a throttle position sensor that does not exist on the '90 engine. I'm assuming that the old '90 body/harness/brain will control this newer engine and that I just ignore the presence of the throttle position sensor. Is this true?

I have the later plastic intake on my 90 engine, but I did not install it myself. My car is in the shop right now, so I can't look at the details, but here is a picture in case you can see what you are looking for.

Wasn't the throttle position sensor integrated into the tiptronic controller? Not used for 5-speeds....... I think........
