964 rear fog light switch broken..

the push/pull switch for my rear fog lights has gone bad. anyone know where to get a replacement? is it repairable? it just won't pop on and off anymore..feels loose somehow. and how do you get to it for removal? do i need an oem replacement? seems every time i fix one problem on my new ride, i create another..

Check out http://www.carnewal.com. They have one under electronics and then P93. Seems like they charge a lot for parts but here is one place....

Mine was not working well - and I just had to turn the knob to tighten it.

Otherwise, Pelican can order the part.

don..didn't see it in the catalog, but i'm sure you're right..they could find. do you know how to remove one? i'm afraid to unscrew it as it could break, but i think that might be the key. from there the pot can probably be easily removed once the knob is off?

don, did you just turn your knob clockwise to tighten it and it worked? mine feels like the switch isn't anchored well or something like that anymore..mushy and won't 'click' on and off. it's always on right now, but the rear fogs won't light up unless the front fogs are on. so if i want front fogs, i've got the rear, too/

wow..there it is, on the site. i haven't been able to find it anywhere. of course i could cal pelican and see if they could get it, they always encourage that. thanks, black ice! good site to bookmark. i may be able to repair mine. i'm not so sure that it just isn't that the switch itself is loose in the dash and that the in/out is fine. i just need to know how to remove it without breaking it..

Ryan, the part is in the PET:

Then from Pelican:

964.613.149.00

FOG LAMP SWITCH
- This is a special-order, non-returnable, part
(availability and shipping charges may vary).
$49.59

I'd have to look more closely at it to figure out how it mounts. The three switches are identical - only the insert is different. You unscrew the knob, then see if it is front loading or back loading. If it is back loading (likely), pull your radio out and reach behind.

hahaha! don, my brother says he;ll shoot me before we'll ever take out that fresh radio install! i'm afraid he may mean it! which means..of course it will have to come out.

thanks for the price. a guy'd sent me a link to a company called 'carnewal', which sells ot for 60 euros ($78 us). so, you do just unscrew the knob to remove that part? you're sure? makes sense of course..just seems tight.

Gert at Carnewal is a great source for Euro and specialty parts. For big stuff (M030 shocks), he's very competitive with local sources.

I just went out and looked at mine. When you pull the switch out, you can see a ring with four small depressions. If when you unscrew the knob, the hole thing turns, you can use a small pin spanner (or right-angle probe) to hold the switch body in place. Then I assume you unscrew the ring and the switch will fall out behind the dash.

Bigchillcar, you're just lucky I just bought a 993. I spent months obsessed with looking for the right car online and now I spend my nights obsessed with looking for expensive stuff to put on it.

If only I weren't out of money.

i hear ya black ice..i was looking for a 993, but decided i just couldn't afford to do it right now. my nights are spent obsessed however with trying to make everything perfect on the car i have..take one step forward, i usually wind up taking one backwards somewhere else on the car at the same time..lol. i could fix this damn switch in a heartbeat right now if i didn't have the radio in it. three nights ago..there was nothing there but a big hole. BUT NOT ANYMORE!!!
