964 VIN Project
After kicking it around I was thinking of starting a 964 VIN database. There is a similar project in the UK on the Porsche964 Yahoo group as well.
I have created a web site where you can post your VIN and some basic details of the car. No personal data to identify the owner but a valid email address is required. Email addresses are not viewable and will never be released. Im looking for feedback or VIN entries if you wish to participate. The 964 VIN Project

While I think this is a cool idea, I'm wondering if there's any apparent risks in making your VIN public to the world? Are there any scams someone can pull off knowing your VIN and general description of your car? I had one person on this forum ask for my VIN on another car awhile back. I gave it to him, but I kept wondering why he wanted it.
