993: Hardware to mount front License plate

Hi,

I can't find this at Kragen. Where do I go for this? I did a Pelican parts search (quickly) and need to look again. The pre-existing holes are to widely spaced to match the holes in the plate. I drilled new plate holes, but the mounting isn't going to look right or be secure with what I could find.

Thanks.

Try this page:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/PEL_search.cgi?command=show_part_page&please_wait=N&make=POR&model=911L&section=BDYext&page=3&bookmark=11&part_number=928-701-050-03-M321

It appears that the 993 bracket was recycled from the 928.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to have to get good at reading those exploded diagrams to make sure I get the order right!

That's another route than the stock Porsche. Do you have it on your car? Wonder if the lower mouting cuts the airflow to the oilcooler?

Thanks.

That's what I was thinking. Probably not significant, but there may be a reason (besides better visibility) why Porsche placed the license plate away from the vents. (If course, the European plates are a lot wider and would cut even more air flow).

Can't you find a used stock 993 license plate bracket for a 993 on eBay or say a dismantler, i.e. www.partsheaven.com? I have my bracket on the shelf but must keep it, in case the front plate rules are getting enforced here in the future ...

George

Thanks, Aigel, didn't know there was a Porsche wrecking yard in our back yard so to speak. Have emailed in case the bracket is available used at a discount. Looks to be a good source of parts.

Leo,

I usually just swing by there when I need something. I don't know how well they work the email. If you don't hear back, you should probably call them instead. They are an excellent source of parts, especially those pesky little things that may not even be available easily new.

Cheers, George
