Jacking the front of a 964
I'm new to 964 ownership and doing a search has not revealed a technique on how to jack up the front of a 964 once the rear has been lifted. Can anyone give me a hint?
Thanks. |
Lift from the rear jack point and the front rises up, too. Jack the front. Same for the other side.
Then raise the rear from the engine and jack both rears. Some say this is not good for the engine mounts as they are carrying the weight of the car, but many folks do this. Just don't leave the car sitting on the engine for long. |
So, d, your saying start by lifting one side, than the other? I don't think I like that. There's a really good chance of the car slipping off of the garage stands and doing major damage.
Has anyone jacked the front by the front crossmemeber? |
I've jacked my 993 a bunch of different ways and it's pretty similar to yours. My primary way is to jack side to side and just be cautious. My car sits very low, so it is hard to jack either the front or rear end. But I have jacked the front by placing a 2x4 on edge across the front suspension points where the A arms attach to the chassis.
