Should I be (!) alarmed.
I have chased down all other lights on my 90 C4 and fixed any issues. I have also re-soldered the clock.
The ! light still stays on with no other lights visible until I cancel it. Is there a further meaning to this light beyond the separate warnings or is this a fault???? Maybe my car is generally alarmed… ! the planet is getting warmer ! I saw a Cayman and it is ugly … Who knows…

Perhaps a bulb is burned out. Whatever other light that triggers the ! might just be burned out. What lights come on during the bulb check when you start the car? All the appropriate ones?

All theones that seem pertinent come on... I will recheck agian based upon teh manual
