3.2 Carrera owner needs help regarding 964 oil change..

I am going to be performing an oil change on a buddies 964 and need to know a few things..

1. Where is a safe jack point?

2. Where to place the jack stands?

3. How much oil will the 3.6 hold?

Sorry about these elementary questions but he recently bought the car and doesn't have the owners manual and all my experience is with 3.2 carreras.

In front of the rear wheels is the Jack Point. Unfortunetly, if you jack there, there isn't a place for the jack stands. Some Jack on the engine centerline? I made a couple of boxed stands that the tires rest on. 10 qts of oil should do it.

Look at the info on p-car.com for jacking the car up (a 964and 993 are identical in that respect).
The 3.6 will need about 9-10 quarts of oil at an oil change.

Like a 3.2 carrera, there are jacking/jack stand points at the corners of the wheel wells. But you don't have the jack plate, so Tom's recommendation for www.p-car.com is a good one. I generally jack side to side using the rear jack points, and then put the front jack stand under the front jacking point, and the rear jack stands under a rear suspension point.

Unlike the 993 in P-Car.com, the 964 oil filter is more traditional location that you are familiar with. The oil tank is not.

This Bentley guide by Adrian Streather could be very helpful.
