993 tip to 6 spd swap, need parts and advice

Title says it all. I just bought a tiptronic '95 993 and would like to make it a 6 speed. Has anyone here done it or can give advice?

Easiest thing would be to find a 993 wreck - you'll need pedal cluster, hydraulics, new DME, shift linkage, tranny mount...

Look through a pet or the Pelican online parts catalog to start. Big project.

I have a list of everything that's needed if you still need them.

Would you care to share the list of the parts required as there is a large price difference between a tiptronic and a manual gearbox car here and it might be viable?

Thanks Craig

Best way to do it would be to sell the tip and buy a stick. Price difference does not pay for the project. JMHO,

George

+1 on George's response. It's just not worth it to the average weekend warrior to attempt such surgery.

Thanks for the tips , but as a licensed and practicing aircraft maintenance engineer who has worked on many aircraft conversion and modifications the technical side is not the question. I was wondering what the parts list was like to do a costing and check if it was financially viable.

Thanks Craig

I do not have a parts list. However, my comment above was made with free labor in mind. Only way it may be financially feasible is if you have a cheap bad drive train tip and a cheap wrecked body but good drive train stick and can do a mix and match. If you have to source stick parts through wreckers, you will be in $10k very quickly - the 6 speed transmission alone will be 5k+ without a core return. The price difference between tip / stick cars is less than $10k on the average 993.

Call www.partsheaven.com , pick their brain and get an estimate on the main components.

Good luck,

George

George, some people enjoy the challenge. As for the money, this Porsche fascination is an expensive hobby anyway.
Hell, I daydream about putting a 6 speed in my car, so let's see that list!
