C2 air bag sensor
The Porsche dealer has replaced the air bag sensors on my 92 twice over the years and the RT one is bad again. A technician told me several years ago that the contacts are the problem and they can be cleaned and turn off the warning light. Does anyone know where the sensor is and if it is safe to disconnect it with out setting off the airbag and clean the contacts and would that work.

I'd disconnect the battery for few hours, then s/b safe. you might need the Hammer to reset the light.

The sensors are on the shock tower. Should be easy to see if you drop you carpet. Like Don said - disconnect the battery and let it sit for a minimum of 20 minutes and then just pop the connector, spray with some contact cleaner and swab with a q-tip. It's quick and easy. Can't remember the Error Code #, but the message was "High resistance at sensor" or something to that effect. Over on Rennlist there is a laptop tester set-up for purchase or loan if you don't have easy access to a Bosch KTS for the DME reset to clear the lights.

Thanks for the input I will try cleaning the contacts. I suppose that a universal code reader will not work. My Porsche shop does not have a Hammer and the dealer is not very cooperative. Jim
