C4 Daily Driver Tire Suggestions?

A lady friend of mine just bought a very nice C4 cab that she will be using for a daily driver here in No. Cal It's current tires are a set of 225.50.16 all the way around and are very old needing to be replaced. I have been tasked with looking into her tire selection with the 964 set to see what it is she needs to look for.

I have been made aware as I suspected that the 225's all around is incorrect. so my 1st question is what size front and rear? the ride height is pretty high and i don't suspect that to be changed anytime soon. can she put a 245 on the rear of what i assume is an 8" rim? the 225's on the front now do not rub and may be a 6" (?) wheel? if it was an impact bumper 911 riding as high as her car with 7"/8" wheels i would suggest 245R/225F. the wheels are the original grey colored 964 pizza pan looking things.

i am looking to suggest a good set of daily driver tires (some rain use) for the C4. she lives in a rural are so its not all freeway she will do some twisties now and again.

so in review if you would be so kind--

correct tire sizing?

tire choices say starting at $125 a corner, up to $200 a corner.

lastly, i am don plumleys friend so go easy on me, and yes i did do a search prior to posting. if there is a thread discussing this i did not find it linking me to it would be fine of yee.

thanks in advance,

T$

For a 964 stock would be 225/50/16 rear and 205/55/16 front. You could go one size bigger if you want. I just put Bridgestone Potenza RE960 on my 1990 C4. There an all season tire, good for rain and and light snow. Check out their review and others at www.tirerack.com

If you are not looking for all-season tires the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 is also a good choice. My '89 (also had 16" wheels) came with these tires; they worked well for highway driving from my perspective.

David
