964 upgrade for lights?

Are there any recommended upgrades for the lights on a 964? Do later model
litronics fit?

I have H4 headlights in my 964 and I have upgraded to a H4 "Xenon" single filament replacement.

H4s aren't designed for high intensity discharge (technology litronic uses). I've compared with a friend and it looks like the PIAA colored bulbs are pretty nice (nicer than the xenon ones I have). They list a bunch of junk on their website about 55W headlights being the same as 110W or something of output, but it's a bunch of junk - notice they don't list the lumen output (which is sometimes lower for these colored halogen bulbs that have higher color temps).

I used to have H4 lamps with Hella 80/100w bulbs. Now those were bright. If you do use those, it's a good idea to wire a relay to the headlight switch if 964s run all the power through the switch like the water cooled Pcars did.

Where can you get the proper h4's? I'm guessing that they are not the same as the early cars, right?

I bought a couple of sets when visiting China last year. If you were in Australia I could organise a set for you but ??

Have a look on eBay - they are becoming more common and the installation including relays and ballasts is not difficult.

Get a pair of Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs and you'll be all set. Huge improvement!
