advice on a B&B vs Fabspeed for a 964

I have a 1989 964 C4 and I RUF muffler by-pass pipe whcih sounds very nice. However, I would a more agressive sound and proformance. I see that many 964 owner use B&B and FaBspeed exhaust. Which is better as it relates to overall sound and proformance quality?

Thanks for your help.

I've had B&B headers/exhaust on my 90 C2 since 1998. The headers have been great. No problems at all. The muffler cracked in 2001, but to the credit of B&B, they worked with me and I ended up with a new muffler that's been perfect since then. No cracks at all. Evidently, that was a problem they were having early on. No affiliation, just a customer.

A friend of mine got the Fabspeed setup. He had some installation problems that required parts to be sent back, but in the end, he got it working fine.

When my car was still a street car, the B&B had a resonance at around 3000 rpm. Went away at 3500 rpm. Wasn't a pain, but you noticed it.

I actually liked the sound of the Fabspeed more than the B&B. I believe Bruce Anderson said in his 911 Performance Handbook that the B&B made a significant horsepower improvement. Of course, that was many years ago, before other manufacturers were in the game. Part of the improvement has to be weight. The factory system for the 964 is quite heavy.

YMMV though - remember my car uses the RS motor, DME, Chips, Etc.

i am moving to a Cat bypass and modified primary muffler, secondary bypass setup soon - and will dyno that setup back to back with my current setup
(Cat, Primary bypass, secondary muffler)
