lateral accelerometer needed
 

1990 C4 has ABS/Traction control lights on. Bosch Hammer says lateral accelerometer has failed. This is located under center console.

Porsche wants $2,000 for this item.

If anyone out there has a used unit they can part with, please let me know.

Also if anyone else has had this problem and found it wasn't the part but something else, that would be of great help

Hi Dan,

Try cleaning the lateral accelerometer. If the Hammer says its bad you have nothing to lose. I cleaned mine 3 months ago and its been working fine ever since.

It is the aft or accelerometer closest to the shifter. Its easy to get to and easy to take apart and clean. If you are careful and mechanically inclined you should cause no damage and you could save a bundle of money. These things act up and many people have cleaned them before me. Ithink I still ahve the link and can send you pictures of what to expect when you take the module apart.

If ever need be, you can find some used on ebay for a quarter of the price.
