Outer CV joint boot\ bellows replacement
Hi all
I need information on how to replace the outer CV boots on my 95 993 c2. Can i just remove the drive shaft from the car without removing any wishbone mounts to the hub as there are quite a few as these press fit joints have a habit of being stubborn to remove?? also on the outer joint how do you separate the joint from the shaft. Thanks Mark |
When I did this on my passenger side axle it was impossible to get the axle off of the car. What I did was to unbolt the inner CV. After it was hanging down I removed the CV from the axle while it was still on the car. With the CV off I could now remove the axle from the car. With the inner CV on the axle it always hit the tranny no matter how I tried to get it to come out. I them removed the old outer boot and slid a new one on from the inboard end. I never seperated the outboard CV from the axle.

I think you have to pull apart the suspension to take the whole thing out as one unit. What you can do is remove the hub from the wishbones and then pull the axle and hub out as one unit, in turn this does not mess with your alignment I think.
