-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My valves need to be adjusted again , after only maybe 2000 miles. and before that about 2000 miles after a top end rebuild. I know this is not normal . Is there any wear parts that could be wearing or worn causing this. I need help with this, I have a track event next weekend and they will adjust it again , but what is causing this? __________________ Update, We pulled the engine , to find the cam lobes and contact surfaces in good shape, it looks like the last guy that worked on it did not adjust correctly

Nope, that does not sound normal. Are they getting tighter over time or are they loosening up? If they get tighter that could mean the valve seats wear allowing the valve stems to walk towards the rocker. Maybe a poor valve job. During a top end usually a 3-angle valve grind is done and the valves are ground to the seats by hand as a final step. If this wasn't done properly it could cause the walking. If they are loosening up over time something (lobe surface, rocker surface, valve stem) is wearing - maye due to an oiling problem. Check the lobe surfaces for wear. Also, if you are doing your own adjustment make sure you rotate the engine over a couple of times and re-check your valve adjustment. Sometimes the swivel feet need to settle. Use a remote starter switch and it is a breeze. Cheers, Ingo
