has anybody done a transplant of a 986/996 3 or 4 spoke airbag wheel on a 964? will they even fit?

Requires a new steering column. So basically no unless you want to rig it.

I'm not certain thats the case.. I've seen late 996 wheels installed on 993 cars and as far as
I know 993 and 964 are interchangeable. You can check part numbers of course but they often won't tell you anything other than a part has been superceded. Has Ago25 tried this? Or are the part numbers and columns different? Thanks Bert

The 964 steering column needs to be replaced with a 993 version. The 993 column has longer threads for mounting the steering wheel. Although you can mount the steering wheel, you will only be able to catch a few threads on a 964 column (not very safe...some have used loctite to help keep it secure).
BTW, the steering column swap is relatively easy. |
