Question on Oil Pressure for 964
Background: '93 964 Manual
Mods include Steve W chip, cup bypass pipe, airbox. Driving with a friend the other day he looked over (he has a 92 964 aswell) and noticed that my oil pressure gauge registered differently than his. I was wondering what should the gauge register during driving? What i see is when stopped with the clutch engaged it registers between 2-3 on the gauge. Once i begin moving the pressure rises to just above 4 and hold there while i am driving. If i engage the clutch to come up to a light the pressure will fall from above 4 to 1-2 and level off around 2-3. Any help would be great thanks! |

Looks normal to me.
Whe engine is fully warmed up, and idle rpm dips below 850rpm, it's normal for oil pressure to drop to 1 bar or lower and rises to 2 bars when idle recovers to factory setting. You have good oil pressure. As long it does not drop below 1 bar enough to trigger the oil pressure indicator light, you are good. What oil weight is in the car as the oil weight will affect oil pressure esp. when engine is fully warmed up. Do you ever see the oil pressure indicator light come ON?

only 1 time has the pressure light come on. When in heavy traffic and on and off the clutch i have had some issues with the car turning off i.e. idle dropped off too far? I have read that i may need to clean the icv (i think) and will try that this weekend.
